Modifications of the Angular Transformation

Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series C, 1975, vol. 24, issue 3, 354-359
Abstract:
The variance of the angular transformation and several of its modifications is shown graphically as a function of p for a range of values of n. When n is constant, a modification due to Anscombe (1948) is found to be most successful at stabilizing the variance. An alternative modification is suggested for use when n varies. The modifications are found also to improve the normality of the angular transformation.
