A Discrete Alternative to the Logistic Growth Function

J. C. Nash

Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series C, 1977, vol. 26, issue 1, 9-14

Abstract: A discrete alternative to the logistic growth function is derived by forming the difference equation corresponding to the logistic differential equation. Some of the properties of this function are calculated; in particular, its correspondence with a non‐stationary Markov process is demonstrated. The estimation of the parameters in the function is briefly discussed and is noted to be inexpensive.
