Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series C, 1980, vol. 29, issue 1, 50-57
Abstract:
In this paper we investigate problems connected with the appearance of surprising values in samples of univariate data that are circular or directional. We examine how their presence might be detected and describe possible tests of discordancy. The relative performance of the test procedures is investigated using Monte Carlo methods. A practical application of the discordancy tests is included.
