Tests of Pseudo‐Random Numbers

A. C. Atkinson

Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series C, 1980, vol. 29, issue 2, 164-171

Abstract: The lattice and spectral tests are shown to be suitable only for full‐period linear congruential pseudo‐random number generators. The correct form of the tests for some multiplicative generators is given. A comparison is made between empirical and theoretical tests of pseudo‐random numbers. The lattices of some generators are displayed and some recommendations are made.
