Estimating Variability from the Differences between Successive Readings
Joan Keen and
Denys J. Page
Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series C, 1953, vol. 2, issue 1, 13-23
Abstract:
The method described in this article is not only convenient for use in control chart work but it also allows control chart procedures to be extended easily to situations, such as often arise in practice, in which the ordinary procedures do not apply. Miss Keen and Mr Page give several practical examples in the article and there is an appendix by Dr Hartley dealing with some theoretical points.
