Economic Forecasting in Great Britain

Eric Shankleman

Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series C, 1953, vol. 2, issue 2, 86-100

Abstract: After surveying early attempts to forecast the economic climate with the aid of 'business barometers' and estimates of the national income, Mr Shankleman discusses post war developments in forecasting and gives the results of some forecasts made by a number of economists for the Study Section of the Royal Statistical Society. Some forecasts recently made for 1953 are given.
