An Index of the Volume of Net Exports

Abstract: Mr Billewicz argues that for some purposes it is better to measure changes in net exports, that is in exports less the imports required to produce the goods exported, than to measure changes in gross exports. He derives an index of net exports and gives results for the years 1948‐52.
