Robust Estimation of Stigler's Data Sets by Cross Validation

Abstract:
It is shown that Stone's (1974) cross‐validatory procedure compares favourably with the best robust estimators when applied to the 24 real data sets considered by Stigler (1977). The criteria for comparison are those used by Stigler.
