Robust Estimation of the Concentration Parameter of Fisher's Distribution on the Sphere

Abstract: A simple procedure is suggested for obtaining estimates of the concentration parameter of Fisher's distribution which are robust against outlying observations. Two specific estimators are suggested and examples given of their application.
