Abstract:
A new formulation of the problem of mixture design is given which has a probabilistic objective function subject to a cost constraint. This reverses the roles in the usual formulation. A complete solution is given for the case of a single criterion and a partial but usable solution for the case of conflicting criteria. Real data are used to illustrate the application of the results.
