Abstract:
The variance of an estimator of weight velocity of a population of children is broken down into two components which depend on four parameters: variance of weight velocity in the population of children, measurement error variance in weight, sample size, and the time interval between two measurements for estimating weight velocity. The parameters are estimated using results from two experiments. An optimal design is identified.
