Modified Profile Likelihood in Transformed Linear Models

Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series C, 1989, vol. 38, issue 3, 495-506
Abstract:
The fitting of known forms of relationship by least squares may require common transformation of the response and explanatory model. When design points are replicated, a method due to Snee obtains a power transformation estimate by considering response transformation only, thereby using only replicate information. Properties of this method are discussed in terms of a modified profile likelihood. Numerical illustrations are given.
