Multiple Regression between Variables Measured at the Points of a Plane Sheet

Geoffrey H. Jowett

Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series C, 1955, vol. 4, issue 2, 80-89

Abstract: A correspondent submitted to Applied Statistics a question concerning the analysis of the results of measurements made over a plane sheet of steel. The issues raised were too big to be dealt with in the short space of a Question and Answer, and Dr Jowett has written this article. The article is concerned with the removal of trends in determining regressions and gives a test for patchiness in residuals. It also deals with analysis after trend or patchiness has been removed.
