Abstract:
The exploration of complex practical situations is facilitated by the prosecution of carefully designed factorial experiments. Such experiments provide conclusions of maximum generality and reliability at minimum expense. The authors illustrate this by a study of the effect of variations in four operating factors on the efficiency of a decontamination process for removal of radioactivity from liquid wastes, and show how statistically significant interactions were explained by reasonable physico‐chemical mechanisms.
