Abstract: The author, born in 1953, is professor of Economics of Art and Culture at Erasmus University, Amsterdam and Research Professor of Economics at George Washington University. After getting his M.A. at the University of Amsterdam he went to the U.S. where he spent 17 years at Duke University, Wellesley College, University of Iowa and George Washington University.
