GROWTH FLUCTUATIONS AND ALTERNATIVE TRAJECTORIES OF FUTURE POPULATION CHANGE: A CASE STUDY OF THE WARSAW REGION

Papers in Regional Science, 1987, vol. 61, issue 1, 131-144
Abstract:
ABSTRACT This paper documents a cyclical nature of population change for the city arid urban region of Warsaw between 1948 and 1985. These trends are interpreted with reference to demographic and polity‐related factors. Future implications, of observed demographic patterns are explored with the help of the multiregional model formulated by A. Rogers. Two alternative series of population projections are presented, starling in 1978 and 1983, respectively. Certain rules for evaluating regional population projections are suggested.
