Ensuring Food Security: The Key Role of Agricultural Production Efficiency

Abstract:
This study delves into the variations in agricultural production, productivity, and sustainability efficiency across 35 countries from 2015 to 2019, employing the N‐DDF and TFP methods. Tobit regression analysis is utilized to evaluate the relationship between total population, rainfall, temperature, and overall efficiency. The findings indicate that in most countries, agricultural production efficiency surpasses sustainability efficiency. Low sustainability efficiency emerges as a primary contributor to overall inefficiency in certain countries, especially those near the equator in Africa and the Americas, where average efficiency values tend to be lower. Moreover, total population and rainfall demonstrate significant positive correlations with overall efficiency.
