Health and Wealth: A Structural Model of Social and Economic Development
David Fielding
Review of Development Economics, 2002, vol. 6, issue 3, 393-414
Abstract:
The paper presents a model of social and economic development which relaxes some of the assumptions made in existing papers on the determinants of growth. In particular, the model allows for multidirectional causality between social and economic indicators. The model indicates that there are strong causal relationships in both directions between economic development and social and political development.
