Living together at the cross‐border regional scale in Europe: Supra‐national and trans‐national identity models in the Greater Region

Abstract: The EU integration process has favoured the development of cross‐border regional identities in Europe. However, what types of identity models are mobilized in these areas and on what grounds? Based on a case study of the Greater Region centred on Luxembourg, the analysis shows that parallel identity models can be used to reinforce political executive bonds and functional economic integration beyond borders in relation to a new regional ideology. This choice based on a specific context is a background of spatial resilience beyond borders, imagined as a property of and a response by a regional system facing common challenges. El proceso de integración de la Unión Europea ha favorecido el desarrollo de identidades regionales transfronterizas en Europa. Sin embargo, ¿qué tipos de modelos de identidad se pueden encontrar en estas áreas y por qué motivos? A partir de un estudio monográfico de la Gran Región centrado en Luxemburgo, el análisis muestra que se pueden utilizar modelos de identidad paralela para reforzar los vínculos entre el ejecutivo político y la integración económica funcional más allá de las fronteras, en relación con una nueva ideología regional. Esta elección, basada en un contexto específico, es un antecedente de resiliencia espacial más allá de las fronteras, concebido tanto como una propiedad o una respuesta de un sistema regional que se enfrenta a retos comunes. EUの統合プロセスは、欧州における国境を越えた地域的アイデンティティの発展を支持してきた。しかし、これらの地域ではどのようなタイプのアイデンティティモデルがどのような根拠に基づいて動員されているのか。ルクセンブルクの中心にあるグレーター・リージョンを事例にしたケーススタディに基づき、分析から、新しい地域イデオロギーに関連して国境を越えた政治の行政的連携と経済の機能的統合を強化するために、並列アイデンティティモデルが使用できることが示された。特異的な状況を根拠としたこの選択は、国境を越えた空間的レジリエンスが背景にあり、共通の課題に直面している地域システムの特性と反応であると想像される。
