Abstract: The aim of the present paper is to highlight the importance of clusters and the main cluster policies of the European Union, their content, and their influence in terms of obtaining regional economic development, in the context of post-crisis and globalization. Regarding the research goals and expected results, this article represents a small part of a doctoral thesis: Business networks and clusters in Romania, that will later on be published, and which wishes to underline the benefits of clusters and the means through which they can be used to obtain regional economic development in Romania, and in the European Union.
