Abstract: In Romania, public expenditures for environmental protection are carried out within the programs funded by the Environmental Fund. The present paper presents a brief analysis of some programs which are in progress in 2020. The focus has been on the programs aimed at reducing the degree of soil pollution and improving the quality of life. Specifically, the paper captures the use of public money in order to increase the green spaces in the localities, to increase the wooded areas and to increase the public awareness on waste management.
