METAPHORICAL REPRESENTATIONS OF THE SINGLE CURRENCY IN THE INTERNATIONAL PRESS
Arina Greavu
Revista Economica, 2012, vol. Supplement, issue 1, 329-337
Abstract:
The journalistic discourse on the euro crisis is centered around several important conceptual metaphors, their choice influencing the way the discussion is conducted in linguistic terms. The present paper analyses some of these metaphors- the euro is a patient, the euro is a sinking ship, the euro is a collapsing/ burning building- and discusses the ideological implications of their employment.
