Abstract:
This paper presents the importance of supporting agriculture in Romania in the current financial and economic crisis, focusing on the difficult situation in which the agricultural sector is today. Agricultural direct support payments of CAP Pillar I is a great opportunity to improve the current situation for small farms, respectively the subsistence and semi-subsistence ones. Financially and politically, direct payments are the most important element of the CAP. In Romania, various forms of environmental exploitation cannot benefit from this type of subsidy, due to their small dimensions. In this paper we will show concrete examples of this phenomenon.
