Abstract:
The cultural heritage represents animportantasset that can be engagedand capitalized in order to support the sustainable development of the local communities. Turning to the best account of the cultural heritage represents also an important driver for the sustainable development of the travel and tourism industry. The paper explores the connections between the cultural heritage, travel and tourism industry and the sustainable development based on the related indicators expressing the extent of the cultural heritage, the development of the travel and tourism industry, and the level of sustainable development in ten member countries of the European Union.
