Abstract: Starting with 2007, global economy was marred by tensions, following the US sub-prime mortgage crisis. Romanian banks do not face exposures generated by the financial instruments that lie at the root of the global financial market turmoil; yet, the turbulence on these markets may affect the stability of the Romanian financial system. In this context, the present study endeavours to identify and explain evolution of the loans to households for house purshas in Romanian in function of interest rate and earnings, watching how these variables are correlated. The conclusions of the research subscribe to a complex relationship between the indicators, the results are very heterogeneous from one year to another.
