Application of the ABC analysis in management of food inventory

Abstract: The article is focused on managing stock inventory with help of the ABC method. The theory is explained on an actual company dealing with retail grocery distribution within the south bohemian region. The ABC method is applied on 4,405 inventory items regarding their 2008 year turnover. Results of the analysis are processed into a system plan to reduce the asset liability and decrease the stock inventory while maintaining the requested quality of logistic services.
