Abstract: This article deals with a comparison of 16 fire stations of a factual region of the Czech Republic with the use of a DEA model. The number of actions (output) and the number of employees, the level of fire equipment and the inside area (inputs) were obtained for each of the fires stations using the fire department's statistics, databases and estimations. As the outputs have an uncontrollable character, the input-oriented DEA model is chosen for the fire stations efficiency calculations. The DEA efficiency analysis results in separating of the effective fire stations from the ineffective ones. The potential improvement (inputs decrease) necessary for reaching the maximal efficiency is proposed for each of the ineffective fire stations. This suggestion is further adapted with respect to the real feasibility and to the Czech legislation.
