The current situation of human resource management in small and medium-sized enterprises

Abstract: This paper deals with the process of human resource management in small and medium-sized enterprises of the South Bohemian region. The most valuable asset holdings of these enterprises are undoubtedly human resources, whose development is increasingly considered as the key competitive advantage that ensures long-term survival of business in the new global environment. The aim of this research is to find out the actual status of human resource management in the analyzed small and medium-sized enterprises by assessing the current situation of the key human resources' indicators, which are important for small and medium-sized enterprises. The issue is a part of the research project titled GAJU 068/2010/S "Process Management and its possible implementation in small and medium-sized enterprises". Primary data was obtained through questionnaire method from 81 small-sized enterprises and 42 medium-sized enterprises of the South Bohemian region. The results imply that in terms of human resources management are for small and medium-sized enterprises most important indicators of labour productivity, recruitment and qualification growth.
