Abstract:
Based on the dataset from the Asian International Input-Output Table, in this paper, we have explored the regional production networks and the relationship between these regional networks and the structure of trade balance in Korea. In doing so, intermediate good's flows are measured directly from the Table, which has not been used in previous literature regarding this issue. Thus, the principal objective of this paper is to find evidence of regional production networks in East Asia and to evaluate the effects of this fast growing intermediate good's flows on Korean trade balance structures. Our results demonstrate that regional production networks exert a significant impact on trade balance structure in Korea.
