Abstract: Self-expanding metal stent positioning is the recommended method for palliation of dysphagia due to esophageal cancer, although it is not free from complications. In this work we identify predictor variables for quantifying the risk of stent-related complications. The results, based on a multivariate logistic regression, would allow clinicians to stratify patients according to the risk of developing complications in such a way to design the most suitable palliative treatments.
