Abstract: The goal of this paper is to consider the problem of estimation of the population mean on current (second) occasion in two-occasion successive sampling. Some classes of estimators have been proposed and their detailed behaviours are examined. The dominance of the suggested classes of estimators has been established over sample mean estimator when there is no matching from the previous occasion and the natural successive sampling estimator. Optimum replacement strategies have been discussed. Empirical studies are carried out to study the performances of the proposed classes of estimator and suitable recommendations have been made.
