Considerations on a posteriori probability
Corrado Corrado Gini
Statistica, 2015, vol. 75, issue 2, 135-151
Abstract:
In this first paper of 1911 relating to the sex ratio at birth, Gini repurposed a Laplace’s succession rule according to a Bayesian version. The Gini's intuition consisted in assuming for prior probability a Beta type distribution and introducing the "method of results (direct and indirect)" for the determination of prior probabilities according to the statistical frequency obtained from statistical data.
