Cercetări privind exploatarea ecologică a lemnului în regiuni montane din Vrancea

Revista pădurilor, 2012, vol. 127, issue 4, 27-29

Abstract: The forest area of Vrancea is characterized by high levels of the main destabilizing factors in maintaining ecological balance, conservation and sustainable development of forests. Irrational logging from the past, without taking into account the specific conditions of Vrancea (friable bedrock, high energy relief, large amount of rainfall at certain times of year, high degree of seismicity, dense hydrological network, landscape fragmentation, etc.), have resulted in negative amplification of erosion and massive landslides, requiring special human efforts and large volume of materials to restore forest ecosystems, some areas remaining today as evidence of aggressive intervention on forests. In the specific area of Vrancea mountains, in operating logging activities is necessary to adopt the most appropriate technologies (environmental technologies) to cause the lowest damage to soil, seedlings, remaining standing trees and provide health and stability to the future stands, the pillar in environmental protection. Reintroduction of cableways for collecting wood in the mountains of Vrancea difficult to reach is required because they show many advantages in conservation and sustainable development of existing trees. Ecological logging in inaccessible mountain regions of Vrancea is absolutely necessary and required to maintain consistent and multifunctional forests and ecological balance on the eastern side of the southernmost parts of Eastern Carpathians.
