A Note on the Equivalence of the Conjectural Variations Solution and the Coefficient of Cooperation

Marc Escrihuela-Villar ()

The B.E. Journal of Theoretical Economics, 2015, vol. 15, issue 2, 473-480

Abstract: This note shows that in a general symmetric quantity-setting oligopoly, the conjectural variations solution replicates that of a model where the “coefficient of cooperation” defined by Cyert and DeGroot (1973) is interpreted as the parameter indicating severity of competition.
