Abstract: The current economic and financial crisis has developed into a fundamental crisis of economics. One of the fundamental reasons for this crisis could be seen in the growing ignorance of economics about its philosophical foundations. Hence, the main aim of this essay is to show that there are good reasons for re-establishing close cooperation between economics and philosophy - and, that is, between economists and philosophers.
