Abstract:
The Renewable Energy Act leads to a regional redistribution within Germany caused by differences in geographic and climatic conditions, population densities and tenancy structures. The study contrasts monetary flows in and out of counties and cities for 2011, drawing a differentiated picture of the regional redistribution. Beneficiaries of the funding mechanism are located in southern Germany and close to the coast in northern Germany. Net outward flows are recorded in the highly populated regions in the west and south-west of Germany. This is particularly evident when contrasting monetary flows of the Ruhr area with the area of Lower Bavaria.
