Abstract: Cities are not only spaces of home or economic centres but also tourist destinations. In postmodernism, this results in an increasing entanglement of tourism and everyday life: urban everyday life becomes an object of tourist interest. Lifeseeing guarantees authentic experiences. But at the same time, onward touristification of everyday life blurs the boundaries between tourists and locals. This development serves as a foil to show the influence of tourist practices of non-tourist actors in the urban production of space. Referring on various examples of re-signified tourist practices the outlines of an oppositional posttourism (Munt) are illustrated. Tourist practices are changing urban space as well as locals’ relationships and experiences of their hometowns are subjects to change. The contribution tries to serve a better understanding of changing patterns of urban tourism.
