Abstract:
Mobility and tourism are closely linked together. In this respect, greenhouse gas emissions in tourism are also largely caused by transport, whereby the extent of emissions depends on the chosen mode of transport to reach the tourism destination. Passenger car transport is the dominating mode in international and national tourist arrivals in Austria. Since several years measures have been taken by destinations, tourism organizations and the Ministries in Austria, to strengthen the use of environmentally friendly means of transport to reach the tourism destination. The implemented measures include the use of demand-oriented transport as well as promoting railway transfer.
