Abstract: This contribution presents the development of the tiny house movement. It highlights social and tourism trends, which explain the growing relevance of tiny houses in tourism. It discusses a classification of tiny houses within different types of accommodation. Case studies of tiny houses show their application as a tourism product. A complementary empirical study focuses on tiny house landlords and their guests in Germany. It examines the range of tourist tiny houses on offer and analyses which target groups and motives are addressed.
