Abstract: Winter (sports) tourism in Germany is facing various challenges such as the climate crisis and demographic change. Despite its high dependency on climatic conditions and its exposure to advancing climate change, demand is expected to continue growing in the future. Lower-lying and often less snow-sure ski resorts are already under enormous pressure to adapt to climate change and changing social and technical conditions. To cope with this pressure to adapt, possible future strategies in the form of scenarios can provide helpful support. In Bavaria, the Bavarian Center for Tourism has developed scenarios for the future of winter tourism in Bavaria in 2024, which are presented in this project report.
