Abstract:
The structures of global tourism flows are experiencing profound changes; however, the scientific debate about the new stakeholders in international tourism is still at the early stages of development. In particular, the PR of China attracts international attention as an emerging tourism source market. This article attempts to show in a first step the developments of the Chinese outbound tourism in the recent past. Building on this knowledge, a second step explains that a profound debate on the phenomenon of the Chinese outbound tourism inevitably leads to a questioning of the established scientific approaches on tourism.
