„Horizont erweitern, etwas für Kultur und Bildung tun“. Eine kulturwissenschaftliche Annäherung an touristische Begegnungen mit dem Erfahrungsraum Großstadt

Lauterbach Burkhart

Zeitschrift für Tourismuswissenschaft, 2011, vol. 3, issue 1, 5-24

Abstract: Multidisciplinary research on tourism has come to the conclusion that city tourism is widely characterized by a common interest in culture. Being guided by the wish to broaden one’s horizons people turn to strolling around town centres, to sightseeing, to visiting museums or to taking in cityscapes. The article deals with the whole array of questions concerning the modus operandi and the significance of this type of tourism; it suggests that more attention be paid to those aspects which have so far met with almost total neglect; and it presents an outline of a number of tasks for further research.
