Abstract: This article discusses leisure-orientated/ lifestyle migration of retirees to destinations, affected by health tourism by the example of Bad Fuessing, Lower Bavaria. For this purpose, I conducted expert interviews and image-guided narrative interviews to point out the nexus of tourism and migration. Empirical data reveal firstly, how motivations for relocating are both, interlinked to tourist experiences and reproduced within everyday activities. Particularly in the light of the paradigm of active ageing, results highlight secondly the meaning of sociability, security and reliable social networks within individuals’ daily lives. In sum, Bad Fuessing stands as an example for other destinations that may become a place of residence for Best Agers, providing heath-related infrastructure and a high amount of social familiarity, where individuals perceive to be secure and attached to.
