Abstract: Winter sport is an important economic factor in the Southern Black Forest. Alpine skiing and other snow-related activities are the main source of income in winter tourism but also highly vulnerable to climate change. We analyzed how winter tourism in the Southern Black Forest will be affected by climate change. We assessed attitudes and views of tourism experts by qualitative interviews. We also analyzed existing offers in winter not depending on snow. However, it can be stated, that only in skiing areas situated at lower elevations, some alternative offers can be found. Up to now responsible stakeholders in higher elevations do not see a necessity to take action to adapt to climate change.
