Abstract:
The cruise market has been showing a significant growth for nearly two decades. However, the current service model is rather market and marketing driven and less innovative. In the near and middle future, megatrends such as demographic change, digitalization and individualization will have strong influences on the business pattern and may impact negatively the steady developments in the cruise industry. This risk will grow especially due to increasing risk of market saturation in the coming 15 years. Cruise companies seem to have to inevitably venture new diversification strategies and seek for innovative product and service solutions in the near future to preserve their current competitiveness.
