Abstract: The amendment of the German federal cooperative law became operative in 2006. It has far-reaching consequences and has positively affected the number of newly founded cooperative firms. This paper studies selected aspects of the revised law and analyzes their impact on the attractiveness of cooperations. The need for further improvements of the legal framework is also discussed.
