Abstract: The author discusses how so-called guarantee cooperatives can contribute to the acquisition of bank loans for their members and describes the role of guarantee cooperatives within the Italian legal framework. In particular, the author analyses how these institutions may interact with fiscal and monetary policy measures in order to combat financial crisis.
