Abstract: The recently modified German cooperative legislation now permits investors to become members of cooperatives according to the statute of a cooperative. The question is, whether the idea of “investing members” contradicts the principle of member promotion. We deny this question because the function of investing members is closely tied to the purpose of member promotion legally. Therefore, it is not possible to statutory restrict or deny the right to vote of investing members.
