Abstract: Finland’s Banking System has been severely distressed by a crisis beginning in the early 1990s. Even cooperative banks were seriously affected. However, the cooperative sector successfully recovered from the crisis and profited from the even worse situation of the savings banks. The Finnish concepts of reorganization may serve as a model for other countries during the current financial crisis.
