Abstract: The ongoing integration of the EU agricultural market into the world market for agricul­tural products bears new challenges to German producers, in particular to agricultural cooperatives. It is evident, that this process calls for a strengthening of the market position of German cooperatives which can be achieved by building on the traditional mission of Raiffeisen cooperatives.
